THE RED ANTS THRILL NANSANA IN FIRST MARKET DAY
On October 15th, 2021, the Jean Sseninde United team held a sucessful Market Day in Nansana with the aim of raising awareness to approximately 100 members of the community in Nansana, through showcasing and putting the organisation’s merchandise up for sale with a 5% discount with all proceeds going towards supporting young girls and women that have passion to play football but lack the necessary facilitation in communities.
Jean Sseninde United, intends to positively impact lives, provide a platform, and create football opportunities for over 20,000 girls in all the 135 districts of Uganda. We recognise that there is so much talent around the country, and one of our objectives is to empower girls and women to play football. This market day was a deliberate step towards achieving our mission.
“The team was excited holding our first market day! The people of Nansana welcomed us and showed support towards our initiative of empowering girls and women to taking part in football,” said Taddeo Ssemanda, Jean Sseninde United Senior Administrator.
“I am happy that such organisations came out to support the girl child. Members in my community think football is a boy’s game which reduces the moral for women to participate in football, I hope others can learn from the Jean Sseninde United organisation and embrace the opportunity to support more girls play football” said Mugerwa Yassin a Boda rider in Nansana.
The market day is only the beginning of a long journey ahead of us. We want to encourage all stake holders to contribute what they can to support the professionalisation of women’s football in Uganda. We can only achieve this when we come together and implement policies and initiatives that respect the women’s game.

Great achievement, being part of the team was really fun and there was something to learn from that experience.
